Official Visit and Recognition Underscore the Strategic Role of Women’s Protection in Advancing Social Development
Karbala – In the context of strengthening the social protection framework and enhancing cross-sector collaboration between state institutions and civil society, a community and media delegation commended the advanced institutional performance of the Women’s Social Protection Department in Karbala. The delegation praised the professional leadership of Senior Programmer Ms. Hudham Ali Hussein in managing this vital portfolio.
The Department’s administration confirmed that the unit operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs within the Social Research formations. Through specialized teams, it delivers an integrated support umbrella for eligible women beneficiaries. More than 22,600 families in Karbala Governorate are currently covered by social protection programs, reflecting both the scale of responsibility and the operational weight carried by the Department.
The delegation highlighted that balanced administrative performance and a clearly defined organizational vision have established a governance model rooted in efficiency and discipline. This approach enhances beneficiaries’ trust in the services provided and reinforces women’s empowerment as a strategic pathway within the broader social development agenda.
Participants emphasized that women’s empowerment is not a short-term support initiative but a long-term sustainability project that strengthens family stability and builds more resilient social capital. They commended the Department’s commitment to managing this sector with professionalism and accountability.
The delegation included Mohammed Al-Obaidi, President of Imtidad Organization for Culture and Education; Muslim Al-Shibli, Head of Future Minds Center; Ahmed Al-Khazali, Public Relations Officer at Azer News Agency; legal advisor Nawras Al-Fatlawi from Imtidad News Agency; and Jumana Al-Obaidi, member of Imtidad Organization for Culture and Education.
The visit concluded with a renewed emphasis on expanding collaboration and institutional integration across relevant sectors to further strengthen the social protection system and support women’s active role in sustainable development and community stability.
